City boss denies Bravo is unhappy

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has denied summer signing Claudio Bravo is unhappy with life in England and already wants to return to Spain.

Bravo joined City from Barcelona at the start of the season in a deal worth £15.4m after Guardiola quickly deemed Joe Hart surplus to requirements.

The 33-year-old was brought in to help Guardiola implement his preferred playing style but it has been far from plain sailing and reports have emerged suggesting Bravo has already been in contact with his former Barcelona players and expressed a desire to return to Spain.

However, Guardiola has now moved to dismiss those suggestions and insists Bravo is happy adjusting to life in Manchester.

“I didn’t read that. Sometimes, when you [journalists] come here, Simon [Heggie, City;s head of media relations] will make a briefing as to what you are going to as me,” AS quote Guardiola as saying. “But he didn’t speak about that issue [Bravo returning to Spain].

“I don’t read too much of newspapers, of the Twitters and Instagrams and Facebooks. I spoke with Bravo in the last days, and with his wife as well. And he told me he is so happy.”

Bravo has only kept two clean sheets in his last 14 games and a save success rate of 63.6% in the Premier League ranks him in the middle of the pack of goalkeepers this season.
