Manchester City willing to double the wages of star man
In an attempt to dissuade any potential suitors in key player Kevin De Bruyne, Manchester City are willing to offer the Belgian a huge pay rise according to The Mirror.
The report claims that the 26-year-old is currently earning £110,000-a-week but will be offered double that figure in order to bring him in line with their highest paid stars.
In that sense it would be no more than De Bruyne deserves after a sensational start to the current campaign, though the playmaker is in no rush to agree new terms and is known to be very happy at City.
The player’s agent, Patrick De Koster, said: 'In the coming months I’ll meet with City to figure out how to improve and extend his contract.
“His salary? I cannot say. But if you think what Neymar and Kylian Mbappe are being paid, you can picture.”
With two goals and seven assists in 11 appearances in all competitions this season, the former Chelsea midfielder is in fine form and was recently hailed by boss Pep Guardiola as “the best player in Europe bar one”. Meanwhile, a WhoScored.com rating of 8.00 in the Premier League is second only to clubmate Sergio Aguero thus far.
