Paris Saint-Germain star would struggle to reject Barcelona

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti insists he is happy at the Ligue 1 giants but would struggle to reject a move to Barcelona.

Verratti, 24, is poised to line up against Barcelona in the first leg of PSG’s last 16 in the Champions League on Tuesday night and will be integral to any success they are to have against Luis Enrique’s men over the two legs.

The Italy international has previously been linked with a move to Barcelona and was heavily linked with a move away from PSG earlier in the campaign but has always maintained his objective is to win the Champions League with the Ligue 1 giants.

However, the PSG No.6 has revealed ahead of Tuesday’s clash that any potential offer to link up with Lionel Messi and Neymar at Barcelona would be hard to resist.

“Even though I am currently in a good project and I feel at home, any player would play for Barcelona,” he told AS, via Get French Football. “It is still the best team in the world.

“They have the three best players in attack, and Iniesta too. Iniesta, Messi and Neymar create a move in a second.”

Verratti has struggled to shake off a series of muscular injuries in recent seasons but is a player that would slip into the Barcelona way of playing with seamless ease given his style of play.

In Ligue 1 this season only PSG teammate Thiago Motta (95.1) averages more passes per game than Verratti (85.2).
