Liverpool defender set for Anfield exit, confirms agent

Martin Skrtel’s agent has all but confirmed the Liverpool defender will leave Anfield in the summer.

The Slovakia international missed most of the season through injury and has dropped down the pecking order under Jurgen Klopp after failing to return to full-fitness the same player.

Wholesale changes are expected at Anfield in the summer and Skrtel is one of those expected to be axed by Klopp, something that his agent, Karol Csonto, has all but confirmed.

“It’s complete nonsense [that Skrtel has joined Besiktas], he has not signed any contract, I’ve even talked with Martin about another club,” Csonto told Slovakia TV show Markiz, via 101 Great Goals.

“Besiktas is one of those interested in Martin, but we haven’t reached a point where I can confirm Martin is going there, or anywhere else.

“But I can say that it is 90 per cent sure Martin will leave Liverpool, but it is far from closed.”

Skrtel only managed 22 appearances in the Premier League this season and his WhoScored.com rating was the lowest he has managed in a league campaign (6.93) since 2010/11 (6.83).
