New contract close for Gabbiadini

Manolo Gabbiadini’s agent has confirmed the striker is close to signing a new deal with Napoli.

The 24-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Everton in the summer but a deal failed to materialise in time.

Gabbiadini has three-years remaining on his existing deal but is set to extend his stay, although there will be no release clause included.

“We agree on everything, there should be no problems. We’re at details,” Silvio Pagliari told Radio Crc, via Football Italia. “The renewal is proof that the situation is changing, and there’s a willingness on both sides to continue together.

“We spoke with more than one club, also Italian, over the summer, but we’re proud of De Laurentiis’ proposal because things are going in the best possible way. Manolo never wanted to leave the club and be the defeated party, especially after the departure of Higuain.

“He wants to be a protagonist for this Napoli team that fights in both the league and Champions League. When you play for a great team, it’s obvious to have other options.

“Clauses? They’ve always been lucky at Napoli, but we wanted to establish a long-term relationship with the club, of five years.”
