Manchester United keen on Tottenham creator

Manchester United are interested in signing Premier League star Christian Eriksen this summer and want to know whether Tottenham are open to dealing with a direct rival, claims The Daily Mail.

Eriksen has entered the final 12 months of his current Tottenham deal and is not interested in renewing with Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

The Denmark international has been holding out for a move to Real Madrid this summer but the Spanish giants are yet to make their interest concrete.

Eriksen has been left in limbo as a result and United are interested in exploring the possibility of signing the 27-year-old from their Premier League rivals.

Despite the fact Eriksen could leave for nothing next summer, Tottenham have slapped a £70m price tag on his head.

That figure has been attributed to Madrid’s interest in Eriksen and it is likely Daniel Levy will ask for even more if a direct rival make a firm enquiry.

Tottenham have developed into one of the most difficult sides to negotiate with under Levy but that hasn’t stopped United in the past, most notably prising Dimitar Berbatov from their rivals in 2008.

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to bolster his midfield options before the transfer window shuts on August 8 and Sporting ace Bruno Fernandes has been earmarked as a target.

Atletico Madrid have also identified Eriksen as an option to bolster their midfield options this summer but only if they fail to sign James Rodriguez from Real Madrid.

Since August 2015, Eriksen is the only player to reach 50 assists in the Premier League.
