Marseille’s stunning January transfer binge is set to continue with Rudi Garcia’s side keen to bring Crystal Palace midfielder Yohan Cabaye back to France in a deal worth £16m, reports The Daily Mirror.
Cabaye, 31, is arguably Palace’s best player and Sam Allardyce will be resigned to losing the former France international during the January transfer window as the Eagles look to fend off the threat of relegation.
Marseille are currently locked in talks with West Ham to bring Dimitri Payet back to Ligue 1 and they are also looking at the prospect of bolstering their midfielder options with the addition of former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Cabaye.
Garcia previously worked with Cabaye during their time at Lille and is now keen to reunite with the midfielder at Marseille, as their ambitious new owners look to catapult the giants back up the table.
Cabaye has featured in 18 of Palace’s 21 Premier League matches thus far although it he has not performed as his usually high standards. He has only managed two league goals so far this season and his WhoScored rating (6.71) is way down from his achievements from last season (7.23).
