Atletico Madrid are on the verge of signing Valencia striker Rodrigo Moreno in a deal worth €60m (£55.7m), claims Goal.
Diego Simeone’s side have been one of the most active sides in this summer’s transfer window and are seemingly not content with their dealings thus far.
Atletico spent the money from Antoine Griezmann’s €120m (£107m) move to Barcelona to sign Joao Felix from Benfica in a deal worth €126m (£113m).
The Spanish giants have spent more than £200m on new players in total and are also linked with a move for Real Madrid outcast James Rodriguez.
However, it has now emerged Atletico are closing in on a stunning deal to prise Rodrigo away from their LaLiga rivals Valencia.
Atletico have lost patience with Diego Costa, who is set for another spell on the sidelines, and want to ease the burden on Felix with Rodrigo’s arrival.
The Spain international reportedly has a €120m (£111.4m) release clause in his existing Valencia deal but Atletico are poised to land him for half that fee.
Rodrigo, who spent 12 months in Real Madrid’s youth teams until 2010, has spent the last five seasons with Valencia.
The 28-year-old’s goalscoring record for Valencia is not particularly inspiring, having scored just 34 goals in 145 league matches.
