I will not leave this summer, says RB Leipzig star

Timo Werner has dealt interested sides a blow after committing his future to RB Leipzig for next season.

The Germany international has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid since the end of last season after flourishing for Leipzig.

Madrid want to bolster their offensive options at the end of the season but will have to take their interest in Werner elsewhere after the 22-year-old reiterated his commitment to Leipzig.

“I’ve got a contract here until 2022 and I’m very happy in Leipzig,” Werner told Sky Sports Germany. “I’m definitely still going to be playing here next year.”

Leipzig will lose Naby Keita to Liverpool in the summer but news that Werner wants to stay at the club for at least one more season is a huge boost for the German side.

Only Robert Lewandowski (53) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (44) have scored more Bundesliga goals than Werner (31) since the start of last season.
