Real Madrid confirm capture of Frankfurt sensation Jovic

Real Madrid have confirmed they have signed Frankfurt striker Luka Jovic on a six-year deal running until the summer of 2025.

Jovic has emerged as one of the most sought after young striker in Europe this season after enjoying a sublime campaign for Bundesliga side Frankfurt.

The Serbia international was heavily linked with a move to Manchester City but Madrid have won the race for the 21-year-old.

Madrid, who have already signed Porto defender Eder Militao in a deal worth €50m (£44.4m) have reportedly agreed a €70m (£62.1m) fee with Frankfurt.

Frankfurt only made Jovic’s loan switch from Benfica permanent in April for €8m (£7m) and have now cashed in for an enormous profit.

Benfica are entitled to 30 per cent of the money Frankfurt have received for Jovic, but it’s still stunning business from the German outfit.

Madrid have moved to secure Jovic’s signature with an eye on finding a long-term replacement for Karim Benzema, who turns 32 at the end of the year.

Jovic scored 27 goals in 46 appearances across league and European competition this season, finishing as the second top scorer in the Europa League.
