West Ham boss Bilic eyes up Premier League replacement for Payet
West Ham are keen to sign Swansea City star Gylfi Sigurdsson in a bid to replace Dimitri Payet, reports the Daily Express.
West Ham boss Slaven Bilic informed the press of Payet’s decision to leave the London Stadium this month, with the Frenchman linked with a return to Marseille.
The Hammers are reluctant to cash in on the 29-year-old, but with Payet willing to feign injury to avoid playing, West Ham have little choice but to sell the France international.
Bilic has singled out Sigurdsson as a possible replacement for Payet, with the Iceland international impressing for Swansea this season.
The 27-year-old has five goals and six Premier League assists for the Swans this term, with the east London willing to spend £20m to convince Swansea to sell Sigurdsson.
Everton have also been linked with a move for the creative star, but West Ham will hope that any funds raised from the possible sale of Payet would be enough to convince Sigurdsson to move to London over Merseyside.
