Reds to spend big on England international

Liverpool are ready to spend £25m to bring Jamie Vardy to Anfield, reports the Daily Star on Sunday.

The 29-year-old has courted interest from a number of teams in recent months due to his stunning form for Leicester City.

Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea have been among those linked with a move for the England international, while Real Madrid and Barcelona are rumoured to have monitored his situation at the King Power Stadium.

And now Liverpool are believed to have joined the race to sign Vardy, who still has two-and-a-half years left to run on his current deal for the Foxes.

Vardy's form may have tailed off of late, but he remains the joint-top goalscorer in the Premier League this season having netted 15 times.

However, he has failed to net in his last six league games, though that is unlikely to deter potential suitors.
