Juventus eye move for Manchester United target

Juventus are weighing up a summer move for Mesut Ozil when his current Arsenal is due to expire, reports Corriere dello Sport.

Ozil is on course to leave the Emirates in the next two transfer windows after rejecting Arsenal’s latest contract offers.

Manchester United are the favourites for his signature as Jose Mourinho looks to reunite with the former Real Madrid creator and is expected to bid for the 29-year-old this month.

Arsenal are reportedly holding out for £35m for the Germany international despite the fact he only has six months left to run on his existing deal.

Should United fail to prise Ozil to Old Trafford this month, Juventus will attempt to secure his long-term future at the end of the season.

Juventus have become the masters of signing world class players on free transfers in recent years and are also set to land Liverpool midfielder Emre Can for nothing at the end of the current campaign.

The Serie A giants hope to use Ozil’s close friendship with Sami Khedira to their advantage to steal a march in the race for his signature.

Only Kevin De Bruyne (69) and Cesc Fabregas (62) have created more goalscoring opportunities than Ozil (62) in Europe’s top five leagues this season.
