Chelsea left-back Abdul Baba Rahman looks set to secure a season-long move to Bundesliga side Schalke 04, reports the London Evening Standard.
The Ghana international moved to Stamford Bridge last summer for a fee of £21.7m, but failed to make an impact for the Blues.
Despite something of a renaissance under Guus Hiddink, the Blues are prepared to allow Rahman to leave for the season in order to develop.
The defender had hoped the appointment of Antonio Conte would improve his chances of regular game time, but the Italian has so far favoured youngster Ola Aina at left-back in pre-season.
Should a Bundesliga return go through, Rahman would like up with former Augsburg boss Markus Weinzierl, who was appointed as Schalke manager earlier this summer.
