Hughes hoping to convince Austrian ace to stay

Mark Hughes is hopeful that Marko Arnautovic will sign a new contract with Stoke following a bright start to the season.

The Austria international's current deal runs until 2017, but his good form as seen his number of admirers rise in recent weeks.

Hughes, though, wants the former Inter and Werder Bremen ace to stay at the Britannia Stadium.

"I'm thinking about it (his contract) and I'm sure Marko is. We want him to stay," the Stoke boss said.

"The two years he has had here have been good, but there is the potential to have a better year this year if he keeps continuing to play as well as he has."

Arnautovic has had a direct hand in five of the 11 league goals Stoke have scored this season, netting three and assisting a further two.
