Manchester United's pursuit of Jadon Sancho in serious doubt

Manchester United may be forced to delay their pursuit of Jadon Sancho by 12 months due to the coronavirus pandemic, claims The Daily Mirror.

United have been heavily linked with a move for Sancho for the past year and are seen as the frontrunner for his signature if Dortmund sanction his departure.

Sancho has been valued around £100m after emerging as one of the brightest prospects in Europe but transfer valuations are expected to tumble as a reult of COVID-19.

However, Dortmund are not in a position where they need to sell Sancho and will play hardball over his transfer fee this summer.

Dortmund are determined to get the biggest fee possible for Sancho to reflect his status in European football even if that means holding on to the 19-year-old for another season.

It leaves United facing the prospect of going against the financial implications of COVID-19 and forking out a huge sum or shelving their pursuit altogether for another year.

Sancho was the first player in Europe's top five leagues this season to reach double figures for both goals and assists.

Furthermore, the Dortmund starlet has remarkably played a direct hand in 29 goals in just 23 league appearances in 2019/20.
