Manchester City make decision on Mahrez's future

Manchester City have no plans to sell Riyad Mahrez this summer and will reject any offers for the winger, reports The Sun.

The 29-year-old is only into his second season at City but has struggled to nail down a regular starting berth under Pep Guardiola in that time.

City shelled out £60M to sign Mahrez from Premier League rivals Leicester in the summer of 2018, making him their most expensive ever signing at the time.

City have made a poor defence to their Premier League title and currently sit 25 points behind leaders Liverpool.

Guardiola is expected to be ruthless with some of his players in the summer transfer window as a result but Mahrez's future is not at risk.

Paris Saint-Germain were reportedly mulling an £80M move for Mahrez but the Algeria international remains integral to City's plans.

Mahrez has only started 29 of a possible 66 Premier League matches since joining City, making a further 21 appearances as a substitute in that time.

With Leroy Sane expected to leave City when the current season ends, there is no way Guardiola is prepared to lose another key winger in the same window.

Despite struggling for consistent playing time in the last two years, Mahrez notably averages a goal or an assist every 104.8 minutes in the Premier League for City.

Not only that but if you exclude substitute appearances, only Lionel Messi (8.69), Neymar (8.58) and Kylian Mbappe (8.30) have a higher WhoScored rating than Mahrez (8.18) in Europe's top five leagues this season (15+ appearances).
