Barcelona midfielder says future at club is unclear

Barcelona midfielder Rafinha has hinted his future could be away from his boyhood club amid suggestions Arsenal have registered an interest.

Rafinha, 24, has been sidelined since with a knee injury since the start of April and isn’t expected to make a full recovery until the end of July.

However, it remains to be seen whether the Brazil international, who is the brother of Bayern Munich star Thiago, features in Ernesto Valverde’s plans for next season after the former Athletic Club boss was named Luis Enrique's successor at the end of the 2016/17 campaign.

“My future is open and only God knows what will happen,” Rafinha told Marca, via Football Espana.

“I am a Barcelona player and the most important thing now is to recover from my knee injury and then you will see what happens. All I can say is that everything is open.”

Rafinha has a €75m (£52.5m) release clause in his existing Barcelona deal but the La Liga giants are reportedly open to doing business for less than half of that fee.

In 18 appearances prior to injury, Rafinha scored six goals and registered two assists. Furthermore, of Barcelona players that made more than five league appearances last season, only Samuel Umtiti (92.9%) had a better pass success rate than Rafinha (92.6%).
