Sunderland have announced they have cancelled Emmanuel Eboue’s contract just 22 days after signing the former Arsenal defender until the end of the season.
Eboue, 32, had been training with the Black Cats for several months after being released by Galatasaray last year before being handed a contract at the start of the month.
However, the former Ivory Coast international was hit with a 12-month playing ban by FIFA after failing to pay his former agent and Sunderland have moved swiftly to terminate the existing contract with the defender.
Eboue failed to make a single appearance for Sunderland in that time and has two weeks to appeal the decision.
