Pogba worth more than €100m, says Juve executive

Juventus chief executive Giuseppe Marotta believes it could take a world record bid to land midfielder Paul Pogba if the Serie A champions decide to sell him.

Pogba, 22, has been heavily linked with a move away from the Bianconeri over the last two years and emerged as a late target for Chelsea in the last few days leading up to the close of the transfer window on Tuesday.

The former Manchester United midfielder is tipped as a potential Ballon d’Or winner following his impressive development since 2012, but Marotta says it would take an extraordinary bid to prize him away from the Italian side.

“As we want to win, we have decided to keep hold of a player as important as Pogba, although we have had offers from some very important clubs,” Marotta is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

“In the future he could be worth more than €100m (£72m).”

Juventus’ troubled start to the campaign is likely to have convinced the board they could not afford to allow Pogba to leave in a summer that has already seen Andrea Pirlo, Carlos Tevez and Arturo Vidal move on.

Since making his Serie A debut in 2012, only Andrea Pirlo (13) has scored more goals from outside the box than Pogba (12).Additionally, the France international has completed at least 51 more dribbles than any of his teammates in the league in that time (198).
