Liverpool have made a £9.5m bid for Udinese midfielder Piotr Zielinski, but face competition from Italian side Napoli, reports The Guardian.
The Poland international, who was an unusued sub in the 1-0 win over Northern Ireland on Sunday, has been subject to intense interest from the Reds in recent months.
The 22-year-old told WhoScored.com that it would be an honour to play under Reds boss Jurgen Klopp back in May, heightening speculation that a move to Anfield could be on the cards.
Zielinski has spent the last two seasons on loan with Empoli and netted five goals and registered four assists in Serie A last term to return a WhoScored rating of 7.22.
He played under Maurizio Sarri during their time together at Empoli, with the now Napoli coach keen on a reunion with the Pole.
