Felix to make decision on future after UEFA Nations League final
Benfica wonderkid Joao Felix has announced he will make a decision on his future after Portugal’s UEFA Nations League final next week.
Felix is one of the most sought after talents in Europe after enjoying a sublime breakout campaign for Portuguese giants Benfica.
Manchester City and Manchester United have both been heavily linked with a move for the 19-year-old, who reportedly has a £105m release clause in his current deal.
However, Felix has revealed he will instead focus on Portugal’s preparations for next week’s UEFA Nations League final before making a decision on his next move.
“Now I’m focused on the national team,” the London Evening Standard quote Felix as saying. “After finishing the Nations League, I’m going to resolve my life.”
Felix failed to impress on his senior Portugal debut in their 3-1 win over Switzerland on Wednesday night and was subbed off after 70 minutes.
The 19-year-old has been described as Cristiano Ronaldo’s long-term replacement for the national team but it was the veteran that stole the headlines against Switzerland.
Ronaldo scored a hat-trick in his first ever UEFA Nations League appearance to guide Portugal into the final of the inaugural tournament.
This season has nevertheless been an excellent one for Felix, who scored 15 goals and registered seven assists in 26 league games for Benfica.
