West Ham have rejected Valencia’s loan bid for Javier Hernandez despite the fact the striker has agreed personal terms with the Spanish side, claims The Daily Mail.
Valencia are on the market for a new striker after terminating Michy Batshuayi’s loan stint from Chelsea six months early.
Marcelino’s side have already agreed personal terms with Hernandez, who previously spent a loan stint at Real Madrid, but are struggling to convince West Ham to part ways with the Mexican.
The Hammers are already poised to sell Marko Arnautovic to China this month and losing Hernandez would leave Manuel Pellegrini’s side short of options in attack, especially as Andy Carroll struggles to stay fit for prolonged periods.
Hernandez wants to play regularly and will only be allowed to join Valencia if West Ham get a replacement through the door first.
Pellegrini’s side have already earmarked Callum Wilson as Arnautovic’s replacement, while they have also been linked with an audacious move for Genoa star Krzysztof Piatek.
Hernandez has spent the last 18 months at West Ham after signing from Bayer Leverkusen but has failed to have the desired impact. The 30-year-old has scored 12 goals in 42 league appearances for the Hammers.
