Bayern Munich winger set for Juventus medical

Bayern Munich winger Douglas Costa is finally on the verge of completing a summer switch to Italian giants Juventus after the two clubs made a breakthrough in negotiations, reports Sky Italia, via Football Italia

Costa put up for sale by the Bundesliga champions at the end of last season after dropping down the pecking order under Carlo Ancelotti but a deal to Juventus has been a long-drawn out affair.

While there were also major differences between the valuation of Costa by the two clubs, Juventus’ pursuit was thrown into doubt after it emerged they would not have enough space to accommodate the Brazilian.

Juventus are only allowed to sign two non-EU players per season and were heavily linked with a move for Real Madrid right-back Danilo having already signed Rodrigo Bentancur from Boca Juniors.

However, Max Allegri’s side have now abandoned their pursuit of Danilo and reportedly struck a deal with Bayern where they will pay a €6m (£5.3m) loan fee with an obligation to make the switch permanent for a further €40m (£35m).

It’s a similar deal to the one that saw Bayern loan Kingsley Coman from Juventus for two years before signing the France international on a permanent deal at the end of last season.

Costa, who will reportedly undergo his medical with Juventus on Wednesday, has completed the most dribbles in the last two Bundesliga campaigns (148) despite only starting 14 league games last season.
