West Brom add to the defence

West Brom have confirmed the signing of Cameroon international defender Nyom from Watford.

The 28-year-old moved to the Hornets last summer, but was deemed surplus to requirements by new manager Walter Mazzarri.

“Fast-paced full-back Allan Nyom has joined Albion from Premier League rivals Watford for an undisclosed fee,” a statement read on the club’s official website.

“Nyom, who will wear the club's No.2 jersey, has signed a four-year contract at The Hawthorns.

“The Baggies have secured the services of the 28-year-old French-born Cameroon international following Cristian Gamboa’s move to Celtic on Tuesday.

“Nyom arrives with experience of football in France, Italy and Spain, where he made his name in more than 200 appearances for Granada with whom he won promotion.

“He signed for Watford at the start of last season and played in both games against the Baggies in what proved to be a successful debut campaign.

“Nyom completed his medical at Spire Little Aston today and then declared himself delighted to make the switch to The Hawthorns.”

On the deal, Nyom said: “I received a call from my agent last night and he told me about the offer to come here and I was happy to do so.

“Last year was my first in England. I was so happy to play in the Premier League as I think it is one of the best leagues in the world. I enjoyed it a lot.

"The Premier League is completely different to other Leagues because here there is more intensity, more fight... the atmosphere in England is better than Spain.

“The team here is good and with good players, a team that plays together. I’m going to try to bring energy and to give my best every game; I want to help the team.”
