Manchester City and Liverpool have made an approach for Monaco midfielder Thomas Lemar according to L’Equipe, via Get French Football.
Bayern Munich are the frontrunners to sign the Monaco midfielder after trying to sign the 20-year-old in January.
Liverpool were interested in signing Lemar last summer but the France Under-21 international instead opted to join Monaco from Caen and his performances the season have only confirmed Liverpool’s desire to sign the midfielder at the end of the season.
However, any suitors may be forced to pay over the odds to sign the Frenchman and could be looking at a similar fee to the one (£36m) that saw Anthony Martial join Manchester United last summer.
Lemar has played a direct hand in eight goals in 23 league appearances for Monaco this season (five goals, three assists). Added to that, only Bernando Silva (49), who has made seven more appearances, has completed more dribbles in Ligue 1 than Lemar (48) for Leonardo Jardim’s men.
