Arsenal set to make fresh move for Monaco star

Arsenal will make another move for Monaco star Thomas Lemar in January, but the offer will be well below the rumoured £90m bid launched back in August, reports the Mail on Sunday.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is a huge admirer of the France international and will look to convince Monaco to sell in the New Year as the club considers cashing in on Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez rather than lose the duo on frees next summer.

Lemar has struggled to recapture his best form after a stunning season last time out, but is still highly regarded in France, with the player now open to a move to London after rejecting the chance to move to Arsenal earlier in the year.

Monaco’s failure to progress from their Champions League group, with the Ligue 1 champions resigned to finishing bottom of Group B, is likely to have played a part on Lemar’s change of heart.

The 22-year-old still has three assists and one goal from 10 league appearances this season, and is a key player for Monaco, but their stance on Lemar may have softened, which Arsenal will now look to exploit in January.
