Berahino set for West Brom stay

Saido Berahino is set to miss out on a move in the January transfer window and remain with West Brom until the end of the season at least, reports The Guardian.

The England international failed in his attempts to force a move away from West Brom over the summer and has paid the price this season under Tony Pulis.

Berahino, 22, has found first-team opportunities hard to come by this season and has been widely tipped to leave the Hawthorns with Newcastle and Tottenham among the teams suggested to be interested in the striker.

However, with only a few days left in the transfer window, it is now being reported that Berahino will have to continue at the Hawthorns until the summer at the very least.

This would all but certainly rule out his chances of forcing his way into Roy Hodgson’s England squad for the Euro’s in the summer unless there is a dramatic turnaround in his fortunes under Pulis.

Berahino, who will only have 12 months remaining on his contract at the end of the current season, has only started eight league games thus far and hasn’t scored a league goal since October (vs Sunderland).
