City forward dismisses exit talk

Manchester City striker Wilfried Bony has rejected talk he is ready to leave just 12 months after joining from Swansea City.

Bony, 27, has failed to nail down a regular starting spot in Manuel Pellegrini’s team since making the £28m move in January 2015 and there had been suggestions he could return to Swansea this month.

Speculation intensified following Bony’s decision to question Pellegrini’s decision to drop him in December, but the Ivory Coast international insists there is no substance to the reports.

“I’m happy at the club, all this speculation is not true,” Bony told BBC World Football.

“I have a contract so I’m happy and I think I’m at one of the top clubs in the United Kingdom.

“I have no regrets joining Man City. We play in the Champions League

With Sergio Aguero ahead of Bony in the pecking order, he has struggled to find a place in a Pellegrini’s system, which usually only accommodates one striker.

As a result, Bony has had to settle with playing time from the bench. Bony scored 9 goals in his last 20 games for Swansea, but has only managed six in 27 appearances for City over his two campaign’s at the Etihad.
