Juventus CEO Giuseppe Marotta has revealed the Serie A giants could move for Paris Saint-Germain captain and former AC Milan defender Thiago Silva.
The 32-year-old has entered the final 12 months of his existing deal with PSG and there have been no discussions about a renewal.
Silva’s agent has already said they will begin to look at alternative options if talks have not taken place by December and Juventus have made an early play for the centre-back, as they eye a Bosman move similar to the one that brought Pirlo to the club in 2011.
“Thiago Silva is an exceptional player and I don’t know what PSG’s intentions are for the future,” Marotta told Rai, via The Daily Mail.
“It could be an opportunity like we had in the past to go for Pirlo. A player considered by many to be ‘finished’, but proved to be a great deal on a free transfer for us.”
Silva has been regarded as one of the best centre-backs in the world since making a €42m move from Juventus' historic rivals Milan in 2012. Opinions have been divided in the national team set-up for Brazil, but his performances for PSG in the last four years have been incredibly consistent.
In fact, of players to have started at least 25 Ligue 1 matches in the last five seasons only Alex (93.3%) has a higher pass success rate than Silva (92.6%).
