Belgian fears for Manchester City future

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany fears he does not feature in Pep Guardiola’s plans next season after being overlooked in the squad that lost to Monaco on Wednesday despite being ‘100 per cent fit’, reports ESPN.

Kompany, 30, has suffered with a series of on going muscle problems in the last few seasons that has really restricted his involvement for City, particularly this season under Guardiola.

However, the City skipper was back to full fitness and travelled with the team that was knocked out of the Champions League by Monaco on Wednesday before being left out of the squad by Guardiola.

Belgian fears for Manchester City future

The same happened when City made the trip to Middlesbrough to face the Premier League strugglers in the FA Cup last weekend and now Kompany fears he will be one of several players that are shown the door this summer.

The Belgium international had established himself as one of the best defenders in Europe but he has barely played in recent years and injuries look to have got the better of the strong centre-back. In fact, in the last two seasons Kompany has only featured in 22% of City’s Premier League action.
