Wolves sign AC Milan striker

Wolves have announced the arrival of AC Milan striker Patrick Cutrone in a deal worth a reported €25m (£22.5m).

Cutrone has penned a four-year deal running until the summer of 2023 and becomes Wolves second signing of the summer.

Nuno’s side welcomed the signing of Real Madrid defender Jesus Vallejo on a season-long loan deal on Saturday and have followed that up with Cutrone’s arrival.

“Patrick is an exciting signing at a very exciting period for this football club,” Wolves’ sporting director, Kevin Thelwell, told the club’s official website.

“We have a strong philosophy under the leadership of Nuno of bringing in the right type of people and developing young talent while staying humble and grounded as individuals, and we feel Patrick perfectly fits out philosophy.

“We are very pleased to have a player of Patrick’s ability join the club and look forward to him being a part of Nuno’s squad in another historic season for Wolves.”

The 21-year-old has spent his entire career at Milan but was deemed surplus to requirements by the Italian side following an underwhelming campaign.

Milan are in the process of overhauling their offensive options and the likes of Andre Silva and Suso are tipped to follow Cutrone out of the door, with Lille forward Rafael Leao joining.

Wolves’ season is already underway after kickstarting their Europa League qualification last week and Cutrone’s arrival will further bolster their offensive options.

The Italy international netted 10 league goals in his breakthrough campaign for Milan in 2017/18 but netted just three times in 34 league appearances last term.
