Everton have opened talks with Valencia over the signing of central defender Aymen Abdennour, according to Spanish newspaper Superdeporte.
Abdennour, 27, only joined Valencia last season in a big money move from Valencia but the Spanish outfit are desperate to get the Tunisa international off their books after a dismal campaign in Spain.
Ronald Koeman's side are still looking to add depth to the heart of their defence since selling John Stones to Manchester City in a deal worth £47.5m despite already adding Ashley Williams to the squad.
Valencia owner Peter Lim is reportedly due in London to meet with Arsenal over the sale of Shkodran Mustafi and Everton are also expected to take advantage of his visit to close in on Abdennour.
Only one outfield player committed more errors that led to a shot on goal in La Liga than Abdennour (3).
