Watford manager close to contract extension

Watford manager Javi Gracia is on the verge of penning a new three-year deal following the club’s impressive start to the season, reports The Daily Telegraph

The Hornets appointed Gracia as Marco Silva’s replacement at the end of January before ensuring the club’s Premier League safety with a 14th-place finish.

Many tipped Watford as candidates for relegation this season but they have been one of the biggest surprise packages thus far.

Watford started the season with four straight league victorys, including a 2-1 win at home to Tottenham, and Gracia was named the Premier League manager of the month for August.

Gracia’s side are now winless in four league games but came close to earning a draw with Manchester United and were unfortunate to lose 2-0 to Arsenal at the end of September.

The 48-year-old’s current deal is due to expire at the end of the current campaign but Watford are determined to secure the Spaniard's long-term future.

Garcia has taken charge of 25 matches as Watford manager and has a win ratio of 36%.
