Ibrahimovic drops hint over Manchester United stay

Manchester United look set to receive welcomed news after Zlatan Ibrahimovic dropped his biggest hint yet that he will stay on at the club beyond the end of this season.

Jose Mourinho’s side have an option to extend Ibrahimovic’s contract, which is due to expire this summer, by a further 12 months and the United manager has been very vocal in his desire for the 35-year-old to stay on.

Ibrahimovic, who joined from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer last summer, has been a roaring success for United but the Premier League giants face competition from MLS franchise LA Galaxy for the veteran’s services next season.

However, Ibrahimovic has hinted at a United stay after revealing he never leaves a job unfinished, perhaps relating to the fact Mourinho’s side have missed out on the Premier League title this season.

“I enjoy it,” Ibrahimovic told Manchester Evening News when speaking about his time at United so far. “I’m a person when I go into something I put my head 200 per cent, and I do what I’m good at. I go in, I go for the kill and I go out.

“And when I go out there is no complaints, that’s what I do. I never leave a job unfinished. I always go in, do my job, and in the way that is a fair play, a fair deal, that is what I do.

“Let’s see what happens, we are talking. I have an option for another year, I want to do great as long as I’m here, so let us see, there is a lot of time.”

Ibrahimovic will serve the final match of his three-game suspension when United host West Brom on Saturday and the striker will be well rested to return and continue his fine form for the Red Devils, having already scored more goals in the league this season than any other United player since the start of the last campaign (15).
