Juventus ready to swoop for Szczesny if Arsenal decide to sell

Wojciech Szczesny’s future at Arsenal is up in the air, with Juventus waiting to pounce if he isn’t given a second chance in the capital, according to The Independent.

The Polish international is set to return to The Emirates after a two-year loan spell with Roma, during which he established himself as one of the top keepers in Serie A.

Nevertheless, last season’s runners up in Italy have reportedly opted against making a permanent move for the 27-year-old, who would be confident of challenging Petr Cech for the starting spot for the Gunners.

Juventus have been credited with a concrete interest should Szczesny not claim the number one jersey at Arsenal next season as they aim to identify a long-term successor to Giangluigi Buffon.

The players agent David Manasseh has told Polish national press Przeglad Sportowy: “There is still no agreement with Juventus. Szczesny has yet to talk with Wenger, who has been confirmed as Arsenal coach for the next two years.”

As first choice in Rome for the last two years, the Pole will want to ensure that he retains his first team status next season, having kept more clean sheets in Serie A last season than any other keeper (14).
