Inter have €50m bid for PSG forward rejected

Inter have had an audacious €50m (£42.4m) bid for Edinson Cavani rejected by Paris Saint-Germain, according to Italian publication Corriere dello Sport, via Football Italia.

The Nerazzurri are hopeful of keeping Mauro Icardi this summer amid strong interest from Napoli but would now appear to be planning without their captain for the coming season.

Cavani, 29, is expected to be promoted to the lead striker at PSG this season following Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s departure earlier this summer and his exit would appear unlikely.

Inter met with PSG directors over the weekend and proposed a club-transfer record offer for Cavani, which was turned down by sporting director Patrick Kluivert.

Since August 2013 only Ibrahimovic (115) and Alexandre Lacazette (75) have played a direct hand in more league goals in Ligue 1 than Cavani (61).
