Crystal Palace are interested in signing Newcastle United winger Andros Townsend, according to The Daily Telegraph.
Townsend, 25, only joined Newcastle in January but is eyeing an immediate return to the Premier League after the Magpies were relegated last season.
Alan Pardew is keen to strengthen his Palace side in the summer and is willing to meet Townsend’s £10.5m release clause in order to bolster their offensive options.
The former Tottenham winger was cut from Roy Hodgson’s England squad for the Euros this summer and Newcastle are sensationally even prepared to improve his £55,000-a-week wages to fend off prying hands from the Premier League.
Townsend finished the season strongly and ended as Newcastle’s highest rated player in the Premier League by some distance (7.35). He played a direct hand in six goals in 13 league appearances (four goals, two assists).
