Bournemouth have announced star striker Callum Wilson has put pen to paper on a bumper new four-year deal running until the summer of 2023.
Wilson had three years left to run on his previous contract but has established himself as an England international and one of the best strikers outside the Premier League’s top-six in the last 12 months.
The 27-year-old has now put pen to paper on a new long-term deal worth a reported £100,000-a-week to ward off potential interest from Premier League rivals West Ham.
“We’ve improved in all areas since I initially joined the club but there’s still a long way to go,” Wilson told the club’s official website.
“While Bournemouth may be known as a smaller club, we’ve got some really big ambitions here. Everyone is pulling in the same direction towards those targets and goals.
“I feel like as an individual, my game is constantly improving here at the club. I want to continue that progress and reach even higher targets. I’m really excited about what the future holds.”
West Ham have been linked with a move for Wilson after missing out on top transfer target Maxi Gomez, who has instead opted to leave Celta Vigo for Valencia.
The Hammers are on the market for a new striker following Marko Arnautovic’s move to China but a move for Wilson was always going to be unlikely.
Bournemouth have no interest in selling their star striker and would have demanded a lot more than Gomez’s £45m release clause, which West Ham were prepared to pay.
The Cherries have moved quickly to secure Wilson’s best years, though are still no closer to making a breakthrough in contract talks with Arsenal target Ryan Fraser.
Wilson netted 14 goals in 30 league appearances for Bournemouth last season, while also creating the most clear-cut goalscoring chances in the Premier League of all strikers (13).
