United ‘keeper offered to Real Madrid

Real Madrid have reportedly been offered the services of a Manchester United goalkeeper. Despite being desperate for David De Gea to be Iker Casillas’ long-term successor, they could end up settling for his United understudy Victor Valdes this summer.

According to Sport, Valdes' agent Gines Carvajal is reportedly using his "close relationship" with Madrid president Florentino Perez to broker a stunning deal that would see the former Barcelona shotstopper join their fiercest rivals.

Valdes' representative is alleged to have advised Perez to buy the 33-year-old as a short-term replacement until the club can secure De Gea on a free next summer.

The former Spain international was not included in United's squad for their pre-season tour of the United States that left on Monday, leaving the goalkeeper’s future in doubt.

Valdes joined the Red Devils in January as backup to De Gea and only managed 106 minutes of football in a United jersey, conceding once.
