Roma have announced they have signed Lyon midfielder Clement Grenier on loan until the end of the season with a view to making the switch permanent at the end of the season.
Grenier, 26, has struggled with injuries all season that have limited him to just 30 minutes of action spread over four substitute appearances.
Combined with the fact the likes of Sergi Darder, Maxime Gonalons and Corentin Tolisso have now moved ahead of the Frenchman in the pecking order at Lyon, then there would have been few chances for the No.7 to make his mark at the Ligue 1 outfit.
Roma will have the option to make the deal permanent in a deal worth a reported €3.5m (£3m) at the end of the season.
Despite almost playing no part in Lyon’s campaign this season, only Alexandre Lacazette (17) has registered more assists in the last five league seasons for the club than Grenier (16).
