Bayern Munich ready £50m bid for Premier League star

Bayern Munich are set to open the bidding for Manchester City winger Leroy Sane at £50m, claims The Daily Telegraph.

Sane will only have 12 months left to run on his existing City contract in the summer and does not want to renew.

The Germany international has been heavily linked with a move to Bayern for the last year and some of their players have even talked up the possibility of signing the City star.

Leon Goretzka has been particularly vocal about wanting Sane to join Bayern due to their close friendship from their time together at Schalke.

There are conflicting reports whether City intend to cash in on Sane this summer despite the fact he could leave for nothing at the end of next season.

However, Bayern intend to step up their pursuit of Sane this summer and want to sign the former PFA Young Player of the Year in a deal worth £50m.

Sane has not played a minute of competitive football for City this season after suffering a serious knee injury in August.

However, the 24-year-old should be fully fit to help City finish the season when football is safe to return in England.

Sane was the only player to register double figures for both goals and assists in Premier League in both the 2017/18 and 2018/19 campaign.

Despite being named the PFA Young Player of the Year in 2018, Sane actually dropped down the pecking order under Pep Guardiola in 18/19, which first alerted Bayern to his potential availability.
