Galatasaray have made a €7m (£6.1m) bid for Sassuolo defender Francesco Acerbi but have been told they will need to fork out €12m (£10.5m), reports Sky Sport Italia, via Football Italia.
Acerbi, who has subject of interest from Leicester last season, announced in May he would be leaving Sassuolo this summer but the club aren’t interested in letting him go for cheap.
The 29-year-old will be available for a cut-price given he is about to enter the final 12 months of his current deal and Sassuolo, who don’t have a manager at the moment, are looking to hold out for more than £10m for the Italy international.
It remains to be seen whether Galatasaray’s budget will stretch to accommodate Acerbi but the Turkish giants are certainly interested in the experienced defender, who would provide great competition to their current options.
In the last three Serie A campaigns Acerbi has won possession the defensive third of the pitch at least 106 more times than any other player (498).
