United rekindle interest in Madrid midfielder

Manchester United have rekindled their long-standing interest in Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos, according to The Daily Mirror.

The Red Devils missed out on signing Kroos when he opted to join Madrid from Bayern Munich in 2014 but they have been given renewed hope of securing the Germany international this summer.

Kroos’ performances this season have come in for criticism from those around Madrid and it has been reported that the La Liga giants could be open to selling the central midfielder as they look to rebuild their squad in the summer.

Despite his unconvincing performances at the heart of Madrid’s midfield this season, Kroos has still weighed in with nine assists in the league this season. Furthermore, no player has a higher pass success rate in Spain’s top-flight this season than the 26-year-old (93.8%), who also averages more passes per game than any other player (76.3).
