There were incredible highs and lows for players and teams across Europe’s top five leagues in November, with Jamie Vardy able to continue his stunning form to score in a Premier League record 11 consecutive matches, while the likes of Aston Villa were still left searching for their first win since the opening day of the season.
WhoScored.com are proud to announce the Player of the Month from November for each league, using our statistically calculated rating system from those to have made at least three appearances over the course of the past month.
PREMIER LEAGUE
Vardy was the player that courted the most attention for his record breaking run, but it was actually Romelu Lukaku that garnered the highest WhoScored rating (8.42) in November.
The Everton striker became the fourth-youngest player to reach 50 Premier League goals last month behind only the likes of Wayne Rooney, Robbie Fowler, Michael Owen and Cristiano Ronaldo after scoring five goals in just four appearances.
Lukaku wasn’t just a threat in front of goal, but he was also creative. In fact only teammate Gerard Deulofeu (3) registered more assists in November than Lukaku (2).
Moreover, only three players have played a greater hand in more of their sides league goals this season than Lukaku (37%).
BUNDESLIGA
Henrikh Mkhitaryan climbed eight places to enter the top 10 rated players across Europe’s top five leagues (7.88) over the weekend, but he marginally missed out (8.16) on the top gong this month to Bayern Munich striker Thomas Muller (8.38), who continued his relentless start to the season with another string of incredible performances.
Only Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (4) scored more goals than Muller (3) and no player registered more assists than the Bayern forward (2), nor did anyone create more chances (10) than Muller in November.
Muller’s final strike of the month against Hertha Berlin means he has already scored as many league goals as he managed across the whole of last season (13) as he eyes a personal record tally this time around.
LA LIGA
The injury sustained by Lionel Messi two months ago opened the way for Luis Suarez and Neymar to shine at Barcelona and neither have looked back since.
In fact, Suarez (8.43) was Neymar’s closest contender (9.82) for the top gong in November and the gap between the pair proves just how incredible Neymar’s performances have been over the last month.
Messi’s return to first-team action led to suggestions Neymar would also revert back to his support role, but that hasn’t proved the case just yet. While Neymar created at least seven more chances than any other player in La Liga in November (18), he also scored the most goals too (5).
Added responsibility of scoring goals didn’t hinder his creativity either, as no player completed more dribbles than the Brazilian (13).
SERIE A
Gonzalo Higuaín was the one that fired Napoli top of Serie A to grant them their best start to a league campaign since the 1989/90 season when they last won the Scudetto, but he could only finish in second (7.95) to AC Milan’s Giacomo Bonaventura as Serie A’s highest rated player for November (7.96).
The Milan forward registered two assists and scored his third goal of the season in his three appearances in November to help Siniša Mihajlović’s side keep tabs with the top six teams in the league.
Bonaventura was particularly good at winning free-kicks for his team, with only three players being fouled more per game than the 26-year-old (3.7) in November.
LIGUE 1
Versatility proved the key for Montpellier as they continued their fine run of form through November. Bryan Dabo, who finished November way ahead of the field for their WhoScored Player of the Month award (8.63), played in three different positions for Rolland Courbis’ side as they won all three matches.
Dabo, 23, finished two of those matches as the WhoScored man of the match and only Hatem Ben Arfa (20) finished November having completed more dribbles than the Montpellier Frenchman (15).
Montpellier started November level on points with two of the bottom three teams in Ligue 1, but they are now a healthy four points clear of the drop having remained unbeaten over the past month.
