Spurs bid for Berahino rejected

West Bromwich Albion have rejected a bid believed to be in the region of £15m from Tottenham for striker Saido Berahino, the Baggies have announced.

Berahino has been heavily linked with a move away from the Hawthorns this summer and Spurs have moved right to the front of the queue for his signature following their opening bid.

However, Mauricio Pochettino’s side will have to increase their offer to persuade West Brom from parting ways with the 22-year-old.

“We have no interest in selling Saido which is what I have told [Spurs chairman] Daniel Levy,” West Brom chairman Jeremy Peace told the club’s official website.

“I know we are living in an age where no club can say ‘never’ about the possibility of selling a player.

“However, the prospect of selling Saido is simply not on our agenda. We are going forward with Saido very much in our plans and still striving to add players to improve the balance of our squad.”

Spurs bid for Berahino rejected

Berahino was hugely impressive in the Premier League last season. In fact, of players to have finished the 2014/15 campaign across Europe’s top five leagues aged U21, only Domenico Berardi (15) scored more goals than Berahino (14).
