Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe is on the verge of landing long-term transfer target Chris Mepham in a £15m deal from Championship side Brentford, claims BBC Sport.
Mepham has been a target for Bournemouth for the last 12 months but the Cherries failed to sign the Wales international in each of the last two transfer windows.
Howe has made bolstering his defensive options a priority this month following Simon Francis’ serious knee injury and is now finally poised to land Mepham.
Bournemouth have been one of the most active Premier League clubs in the January transfer window after signing Nathaniel Clyne and Dominic Solanke from Liverpool earlier this month.

Mepham has developed into one of the best defenders in the Championship since joining Brentford in January 2017 and his impending departure marks the latest high profile departure from Griffin Park.
Brentford have recouped well in excess of £50m in player sales over the last four campaigns and Mepham’s £15m departure will only add to that.
