Dutch shotstopper happy in Barcelona

Crystal Palace have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Barcelona goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen, with the Dutchman insisting that he is happy with the La Liga side.

Cillessen moved to Barcelona from Ajax last summer, but made only eight competitive starts for the Blaugrana, six of which came in the Copa Del Rey.

Palace, meanwhile, are in the market for a new goalkeeper following Steve Mandanda’s return to France after the Frenchman moved to Marseille following a disappointing spell with the Premier League side.

The Eagles had targeted Cillessen as a possible signing, but the 28-year-old has done his part to cool speculation linking him with a move to Selhurst Park.

"I have not spoken with Frank (De Boer), I know him well but I've not talked to him," Cillessen is quoted as saying by the Croydon Advertiser.

"Would I answer a phone call from Frank? Well I am not going. I am very happy here."

Cillessen and newly appointed Palace head coach Frank de Boer worked together during their respective time at Ajax.
