Timo Werner makes bizarre substitution request against Besiktas
RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner asked to be substituted 32 minutes into their 2-0 defeat to Besiktas after complaining with dizziness due to the noise in the stadium, reports The Daily Telegraph.
Werner, who has been linked with a move to Real Madrid since the end of last season, covered his ears before being forced to leave the field with hearing problems.
The Germany international tried wearing ear plugs to block out the deafening noise from within Besiktas’ Vodafone Arena, but it didn’t help before trudging off in what is one of the most bizarre substitutions of all-time.
“It is impossible to prepare your team for an atmosphere like this,” manager Ralph Hasenhuttl said after the 2-0 defeat. “There was deafening noise [and] at the start of the game we were a bit affected.
“We were not good in the first 20 minutes at all. But it was a lesson for all of us. I saw who I can count on in times like these. This is a lesson for us to learn and we keep learning."
Of players aged 21 and under in Europe’s top five leagues, Werner has scored the most goals (26).
pfff, what a joker... I think Champions League as a whole is making him dizzy, 'cause he didn't do s**t in the first game AT HOME either.
