Derby turn to ex-Everton manager

Derby have recently sacked Everton manager Roberto Martinez in their sights, reports The Daily Mirror.

The Rams are building a short-list to fill their vacant manager’s job and have now added Martinez’s name to it after he was sacked by Everton earlier this month.

Nigel Pearson and Birmingham City manager Gary Rowett also feature in their plans but it would be a real coup if they could convince Martinez to jump down from the Premier League to manage in the Championship.

However, when you consider all three of Derby’s statistically calculated weakness concern their failure to defend then you would have to question whether Martinez is the right manager to help solve their problems.

In fact, only  six teams conceded more goals in the Premier League this season than Everton (55).
